SALINE COUNTY — A 37-year-old Kentucky woman died Wednesday morning after falling from a rock formation at the scenic Garden of the Gods park in Southern Illinois.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of relatives. Saline County Sheriff Keith Brown said the woman fell approximately 100 feet to her death from the Table Rock formation.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Saline County Coroner Jerry Watson. Watson said nothing about the incident appeared to be suspicious; however, the accident remains under investigation by his office and the U.S. Forest Service.
