BENTON — A Williamson County man was recently sentenced to almost 20 years in federal prison on heroin charges, James L. Porter, Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced today.

On June 15, 2016, 42-year-old Antoine B. Shaw, a/k/a “Scan,” of Herrin, was sentenced to 228 months’ imprisonment and five years’ supervised release following his imprisonment.

Shaw had previously pleaded guilty to one count in a federal superseding indictment which charged that from August 2014, until on or about June 5, 2015, in Williamson and Franklin Counties, Shaw and others conspired to distribute more than 100 grams of heroin.

The investigation in this case was conducted by the Illinois State Police, the Marion, Illinois Police Department, and the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.
