CLINTON COUNTY — Bail has been set at $250,000 for a 31-year-old Carlyle man facing numerous felony charges for distributing drugs.

Chad Hilbert was arrested Thursday by Carlyle police on a warrant that was issued after a bill of indictment was filed Wednesday against him.

Hilbert was formally charged Thursday in Clinton County Court with seven Class 2 felony counts of distributing narcotics and one Class 3 felony count of distributing narcotics.

The case file, which had been sealed following the indictment, was ordered opened Thursday at the request of the state’s attorney.

Hilbert was charged in a separate case Thursday with Class 4 felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of a hypodermic syringe.

Hilbert was advised of the charges against him and the possible penalties. He was scheduled for an August 10 first appearance in both cases, with a court appointed attorney.
