SCOTT AFB — There is a new facility in Illinois designed to prevent cyber attacks against the U.S. Scott Air Force Base is now home to the largest cyber operation center in the United States.

Governor Bruce Rauner took part in a ceremony yesterday as the Defense Information System Agency unveiled its new Global Operations Command center at Scott Air Force Base.

Rauner said the facility will help expand the war on cyber attacks, cyber terrorism, and will enable more effective communications for the military around the world using the internet.

The $100 million facility will house nearly one-thousand employees.

The 164,000-square foot complex houses the United States Premier Cyber Protection Division, built to execute global mission support and emergency response coordination, along with containing the most advanced networking systems available to the Department of Defense.
