WAYNE COUNTY — Two men were airlifted from the scene of a suspected DUI crash Saturday afternoon in Wayne County.
According to accident reports, 25-year-old James L. Franklin, of Geff, was traveling east on Wayne County Highway 7 at the intersection with County Road 1325 East, while speeding.
Franklin lost control of his vehicle near the intersection, which caused the vehicle to run off the road to the right, strike a private driveway culvert and became airborne.
The vehicle came down nose first and struck the ground before coming to rest in the yard of the home.
Franklin and his passenger, 26-year-old Randall S. Trout, also of Geff, were both air lifted to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries. Neither was wearing their seat belts.
Officials say alcohol was a factor in the traffic crash.
Franklin was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, failure to wear seat belt, driving while license revoked, illegal transportation of alcohol, and driving under the influence.
