MARION COUNTY — A 21-year-old Centralia man was sentenced today in Marion County Court to 2 years probation after he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and aggravated fleeing police.
Jordan White was arrested in August after fleeing down Poplar Street from an attempted traffic stop, running a traffic light at 2nd Street, and then striking a power pole as he attempted to turn east onto 3rd Street.
The impact moved the pole about six inches and destroyed the front end of the car he was driving.
White pleaded guilty today to felony aggravated fleeing police resulting in less than $300 property damage, and misdemeanor driving under the influence. In addition to the 2-year probation he was sentenced to 26 days in jail with credit for 26 days served.
He had reportedly taken the car owned by Marcus Miller of Centralia without permission after the keys were left in the vehicle. However, Miller, who was friends with White, elected not to pursue charges.
