Centralia police arrested Gregory Irvin early Wednesday morning after he allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face during a disagreement at a home on West Seventh Street in Centralia.
The girlfriend was taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia for treatment of injuries.
Irvin was advised in court Wednesday of the charge against him and the possible penalties, including possible extended sentencing based upon his previous convictions.
He was wanted at the time of his arrest on an outstanding Fayette County warrant for failure to pay on a misdemeanor domestic battery conviction, and was facing probation revocation in Marion County on a felony burglary conviction.
A first appearance with private counsel was scheduled for September 21. If Irvin is released on bond he is to have no contact with the alleged victim.
