Abducted girl and infant son found safe, step-father arrested

abductedMADISON COUNTY, Ill. — Authorities are saying a missing Metro East teen and her infant son have been located, and the suspect in their disappearance apprehended.

According to the U.S. Marshal Service, 13-year-old Katherine Derleth, and her infant son Christopher R. Derleth, were found safe and alive in West Virginia.

Kidnapping suspect 39-year-old Christopher Derleth, the girl’s step-father was wanted in a nationwide Amber Alert and was also located and he was arrested.

The Marshal Service says the two children were discovered around 1:30 Saturday afternoon off the road, tucked away and camping in tents.
