According to the Carlyle Police Department, Garrett Beppler, an over-the-road truck driver, was arrested over the weekend in Carmi on an outstanding Clinton County warrant charging him with Class 2 felony aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a minor victim, and Class 4 felony abduction or luring a child victim under the age of 17.

Details in the case are not being released at this time as it remains under investigation. Charges against Beppler were initially filed September 9, but as he was not in custody at that time the case was sealed and the warrant issued for his arrest.

That warrant was served Saturday in Carmi, when he was taken into custody and held in the White County Jail before being transported Monday afternoon to the Clinton County Jail. Beppler was formally charged Tuesday in Clinton County Court.
