CENTRALIA — South Central Transit has announced today that due to the state budget standoff and a lack of state funding, they will be making changes to the Pirates shuttle services effective November 1st, in an effort to reduce expenses.

You can go to their website at southcentraltransit.org for detailed changes.

As we reported earlier this month, the state budget standoff is hurting downstate public transportation services, with West Central Transit stopping service in some communities and South Central Transit possibly having to cut some services.

According to an SCT press release issued today, borrowing on their lines of credit will sustain most all remaining SCT operations until the 1st of December.

However, if the state does not make any operating assistance payments before the 1st of December, South Central Transit will be forced to start suspending other routes and services.
