Darlene Eagan Reyes explains in her post that while growing up Jason didn’t know the meaning of “you can’t do it,” and that they let Jason try whatever he wanted to do.

Darlene recalls the many things Jason has achieved in his life, noting that after he moved to Sandoval with his grandmother Mary Eagan,  he eventually went to the Sandoval Fire Department and asked for an application and has been going back ever since.

She says Jason had been working out with the firefighters and helping around the firehouse when a fireman by the name of Matt Horn befriended Jason and made all of this happen for him.

As of December 4, 2015 Jason was voted in as a volunteer fireman – although he doesn’t have his license.

Darlene says Jason was very excited to ride in the Sandoval and Centralia parades, and she wants everyone to show appreciation to the Sandoval Fire Department and community for helping this young man achieve his dream.

She thanks the group of men and women for taking her son under their wings rather than simply ignoring him, and gave a special thanks to Angie Moore Hunter for speaking to the firefighters for Jason.
