MOUNT VERNON — A 27-year-old Mt. Vernon bank teller has been arrested for allegedly stealing money from the bank.

According to the Mt. Vernon Police Department, Joshua Bauer was arrested for taking between $500 and $10,000 – a Class 3 felony — from the Woodforest National Bank on Davidson Avenue in Mt. Vernon.

Bauer’s arrest came after the bank conducted its own investigation into the theft. Following his arrest, Tuesday Bauer was taken to the Jefferson County Jail, where he posted bond and was released.

A court date for Bauer to be formally charged remains pending.
