MARION COUNTY — A 56-year-old Centralia man has been formally charged in Marion County court with Class X felony driving under the influence after he was arrested by Centralia police over the weekend for what is at least his sixth DUI arrest.

Dickie D. Whipple was also charged with Class 4 felony driving while license revoked or suspended from a DUI more than four but less than nine times, misdemeanor DUI, and was issued multiple traffic citations. His bail has been set at $30,000.

If convicted of the Class X offense, Whipple cannot be sentenced to probation and can be sentenced to between 6 and 30 years in prison.

He was last sentenced in 2008 to 4-years in prison after being convicted in Marion County of his fifth DUI.

Whipple remains in the Marion County Jail where he was taken following his weekend arrest.
