Mason J.C. Dollins will serve the sentence concurrently with a 4-year prison sentence handed down last month in Fayette County court for Class 2 felony theft and Class 1 felony unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle. Two other charges in the Fayette County case were dismissed per the plea agreement.
According to court records, Dollins was arrested with three others in June 2016 after a truck was stolen in Vandalia, crashed in northwest Patoka and then set on fire.
The truck, owned by Tyler Meseke of Vandalia, was apparently driven through Patoka at a high rate of speed before becoming stuck across a ditch on Bond Street in Patoka where it curves to join Boat Dock Road just north of the Patoka Park.
It was there — in Marion County — that gasoline was apparently poured from the road to the truck and then set on fire, and ultimately resulted in the Class 2 felony arson charge to which he pleaded guilty today.
