ST. CLAIR COUNTY — A St. Clair County judge could face criminal charges. St. Clair County Circuit Court Judge Ron Duebbert is being accused of harboring a violent offender who is on parole.
That person, Dubbert’s former roommate and a parolee, is now facing first-degree murder charges.
A special prosecutor was appointed Wednesday to decide whether obstruction-of-justice charges should be filed against Duebbert in connection with the murder case.
Duebbert was interviewed Friday by the Major Case Squad, which was investigating the killing of Carl Z. Silas, who was shot in the face in front of two children.
The Major Case Squad was called out on Friday at 5 a.m. after a home invasion and shooting at a home near Belleville.
During the course of the murder investigation, the Major Case Squad requested charges against Duebbert, according to Kelly.
