FAYETTE COUNTY — A 25-year-old Vandalia woman is in the Fayette County jail following her arrest Sunday for allegedly stabbing someone in Vandalia.

Ashley M. Banks was arrested Sunday by Vandalia police after she allegedly stabbed a person twice in the back and once in the left arm.

The incident took place at Banks’ residence at the Randolph House at First and Edwards streets in Vandalia.

Banks was arrested on pending charges of unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated battery, and aggravated assault. The stabbing victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries and was later released.

Banks remains in the Fayette County jail awaiting the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail.
