BARRINGTON HILLS, Ill. — A Republican state lawmaker is taking aim at the office of Lieutenant Governor, sponsoring a bill to eliminate it.

David McSweeney of Barrington Hills says there are no duties of the lieutenant governor that can’t be done by other people in the administration.

McSweeney’s bill has passed the House twice in past years, but was killed each time in the Senate.
