WASHINGTON COUNTY — A two-vehicle crash this morning in Washington County resulted in one driver being airlifted from the scene to a regional hospital.
According to Illinois State Police, 37-year-old Ernest E. Setzer, of Columbia, Ill., was driving southbound on County Road 12 just south of Venedy when he approached a stop intersection of Illinois Route 15.
Setzer’s 2015 Chevy 3500 failed to stop at the intersection and entered the westbound lane where it struck a 2009 Toyota Yaris driven by 21-year-old Jennifer Skewes, of Oakdale.
Both vehicles came to rest in the northwest ditch of the intersection, with the Toyota having rolled over.
Okawville and St. Libory Fire Departments responded to the scene and extricated Skewes from the Toyota. She was flown from the scene. Both vehicles were extensively damaged and were towed from the scene.
Setzer was cited for disobeying a stop sign.
