PULASKI COUNTY — A crash Wednesday night between a van and a semi on Interstate 57 has claimed the life of a 2-year-old child.

According to Illinois State Police, a 46-year-old semi driver from Texas was driving north behind a van driven by 31-year-old Shatroy Leroya Williams of Marion on I-57 at milepost 18.5 in Pulaski County when the semi crashed into the rear of the van. Both vehicles continued north and came to rest.

Williams and the toddler were taken to a local hospital where the toddler died. Williams had non-life threatening injuries. A passenger in Williams’ van and the semi driver were not hurt in the crash.

Illinois State Police continue to investigate the crash.
