CHICAGO (AP) — Authorities in Chicago say a 24-year-old woman has been charged with murder after allegedly slamming an 18-year-old woman into a tree with her car after an argument.
Chynna Stapleton faces first-degree murder and is expected in court Monday. It was immediately unclear if she has an attorney.
Police say the incident happened around 11 p.m. Friday on Chicago’s South Side. The Cook County medical examiner says 18-year-old Tatyanna Lewis died from multiple blunt force injuries. Her death was ruled a homicide.
Authorities allege that after an argument Stapleton got into a 2002 Jeep Liberty and chased Lewis onto a sidewalk and then pushed her into a tree with the car, ramming her with multiple times.
Stapleton was arrested later Friday evening after she was identified as the Jeep’s driver.
