CENTRALIA — The Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees met in a regular meeting Monday night and approved a resolution extending the current collective bargaining agreements with the three unions representing college employees for an additional 12 months.

As part of the agreements with the three unions, there will be no salary or compensation increases for the year.  The resolution also states there will be no salary increases for non-union college employees.

The extension was agreed upon by the unions and college as KC continues to grapple with no state funding due to the lack of a state budget.

KC President Dr. Penny Quinn thanked the unions for working with the college in continuing the current agreements.

“The unions have been very understanding of the college’s financial situation as a result of the gridlock in Springfield,” said Quinn, “and they continue to work with the administration to find ways the college can save money while at the same time providing quality educational services to our students.”
