CENTRALIA — Centralia Police Chief Brian Atchison is one of several law enforcement executives from across the state to participate in the course Enduring, Surviving and Thriving as a Law Enforcement Executive, this week.

The program was hosted by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board Executive Institute in Springfield.

This new chiefs’ of police orientation presents concepts, strategies, and information that will guide the law enforcement executive in managing and leading the organization effectively.

Chief Atchison received training on a variety of subjects including legal issues, managing critical assets, mentoring, strategic planning, leadership development, and political realities.

Founded in 1991, the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board Executive Institute guides the professional development of managers and leaders in the law enforcement community.

Located at Western Illinois University, the Executive Institute addresses the numerous challenges that today’s law enforcement administrators face and those that will emerge as important issues during the course of the next decade and beyond.
