Rudy Byler admitted to allegations within the state’s petition to declare him a sexually dangerous person. Byler was initially arrested in April 2016 after allegedly committing sex acts with a minor under the age of 10.
Byler had been formally charged last year with three felony counts Class X predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, two Class 2 felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and two Class 1 felony counts of criminal sexual assault of a child.
In October the state filed a petition to declare Byler a sexually dangerous person. Byler also has a prior conviction from 2014 on three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, which assisted in the case, a psychological examination was conducted on Byler and it found that he has a pedophilic disorder and has a significant risk of re-offending.
