JEFFERSON COUNTY — Two semis were involved in a crash on Interstate 57 in Jefferson County Saturday afternoon.
Illinois State Police say around 1:40 p.m., both semis were going south on I-57 in the right hand lane at mile post 97.5 when the semi being driven by 61-year-old Terry W. Copes of Vicksburg, Mississippi failed to slow down and struck with his front bumper the rear of the trailer the other semi being driven by 34-year-old Dalibot Sakotic of Wylie, Texas.
Both vehicles came to rest on the right shoulder with Sakotic’s semi receiving extensive damage. Copes was not injured and Sakotic suffered minor injuries in the accident.
Sakotic was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Copes was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
