JEFFERSON COUNTY — A 37-year-old Herrin man was sentenced Wednesday to 3 years in prison after he pleaded guilty in Jefferson County Court to felony aggravated battery.

Dustin Knight admitted to repeatedly striking a man in the head with a glass bottle on April 28th when Mt. Vernon Police responded to a report of the suspect forcing himself inside a Woodlawn residence and battering the victim.

Knight was held by individuals at the residence until police arrived.

He pleaded guilty Wednesday to Class 3 Felony aggravated battery with great bodily harm and has been sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections for a term of three years.
