the influence in connection to a June 11th crash on Interstate 57 that killed a Mt. Vernon woman and seriously injured her passenger.
Cole Stevens is accused of driving while under the influence of cocaine. Stevens was the driver of a vehicle that travelled through the median of I-57 at milepost 81 and into the southbound lanes of traffic, striking head-on a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Emma Caserotti.
Caserotti died from her injuries. Her passenger, 18-year-old Tristen Sharp was seriously injured in the collision, as was Stevens and his a 22 year old female passenger from Carbondale.
The crash happened around 12:56 p.m. on June 1. Stevens is being held in the Jefferson County Jail bail set at $250,000.
