CLINTON COUNTY — The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department is searching for a 27-year-old man they say fled the back of a moving ambulance early Wednesday morning on Route 161 near Shattuc Road.

The man from Arizona was reportedly being transported to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia for a psychiatric evaluation when he first jumped from the moving ambulance and then from Crooked Creek Bridge into a heavily wooded area. He could not be located.

The man faces no criminal charges and is not believed to be dangerous.

The man is described as a light skinned black male, weighing 150 pounds and wearing a hospital gown.

Deputies were able to ping the man’s phone Wednesday morning with the signal returning from cell phone tower on the west side of Centralia.
