MARION COUNTY — With the announced decision of state Representative John Cavaletto to not run for reelection in 2018, a 41-year-old Centralia man says he’ll be seeking the GOP nomination to that seat.

Adam Smith is currently a member of the Marion County Board. has owned Smith Truck Service for the last 12 years, and works for Coldwell Banker in Centralia as a real estate agent.

Smith is a 1994 graduate of Centralia High School and has a degree in plant and soil science from SIU-Carbondale. He and his wife Gina have three children.
