WASHINGTON COUNTY — A 60-year-old Sparta man was killed in a head-on crash Wednesday night with a farm combine in Washington County.

According to the Washington County Coroner’s Office, Clarence A. Louks Sr., was pronounced dead at 7:48 p.m. Wednesday after he apparently crossed the center line on northbound County Highway 16, near Oakdale, and struck a combine tractor head-on.

The corn head of the combine entered Louks vehicle, and struck him in the head as it went through the car, says a news release from the Coroner’s office.

Louks had to be extricated from his car by the Coulterville Fire Department. The combine was driven by a woman from Nashville, whose identity was not released.

Louks died from massive head trauma, and the Washington County coroner determined his death to be accidental, according to the news release.

The Washington County Sheriff’s and coroner’s office were still investigating the crash Thursday evening.
