Rodney A. Wynn pleaded guilty Thursday to sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl.

In addition to the seven-year prison term, Judge Allan Lolie ordered that Wynn serve two years’ mandatory supervised release once he’s out of prison.

Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Wynn on the charge in August. He’s been given credit for 76 days served in jail prior to his sentencing.

Wynn faced up to 14 years in prison on the offense. He was already required to register as a sex offender at the time of the offense. According to Effingham authorities, Wynn’s offense happened when he was a juvenile, so he was required to register but was not listed in the public registry

The case came from abuse that reportedly happened between May 1 and May 30, 2016, according to the indictment.

The sentence orders Wynn to have no contact with the victim, the victim’s family, or the victim’s home.
