Michael Arnold was arrested after authorities were able to trace back the call reporting the alleged motorcycle crash to a cell phone Arnold allegedly used without permission. Bail was set at $20,000.

The call allegedly reported a motorcycle found mangled in the middle of the Route 161 Extension near the Union Pacific Railroad Tracks.

Marion County Sheriff’s deputies, Kell firefighters, Marion County EMS and Marion County ESDA all searched the area after the call but found nothing..

The Marion County dispatcher noted the 911 caller didn’t want to leave his name. A deputy was able to trace the number that showed on the dispatch caller ID back to Arnold’s Facebook page.

Deputies later found Arnold when they ran plates from a truck parked at a nearby church and they returned as belonging to Arnold.

He initially denied making the 911 call but allowed deputies to use the cell phone, which allowed them to verify the number the report came from was the same as that phone.
