BENTON — A 27-year-old former model and missionary from Benton has decided he would like to have Congressman Mike Bost’s job.
Preston Nelson will challenge Bost for the 12th Congressional District seat and will start advertising closer to the March primary.
Nelson, a Libertarian, says he is running for Congress because we need real change to happen now and the country is heading towards disaster as leadership in Washington has grossly mismanaged our nation among other things he mentions on his campaign website.
According to the Southern Illinoisan, Nelson wants to walk back what he sees as a heavy-handed military, reduce spending in order to reduce the nation’s debt – which includes eliminated the Federal Reserve – and preserve and return the freedoms he sees as indelible to American citizens.
