WASHINGTON COUNTY — A 33-year-old Missouri man pleaded guilty Tuesday in Washington County Court to reduced charges in connection with a July 2016 crash on Interstate 64 that claimed the lives of two young Mt. Vernon residents.

Zacchaues Williams pleaded guilty to two Class 3 felony counts reckless homicide after the Class 2 charges of aggravated driving under the influence resulting death being reduced.

Williams was sentenced to 24-months probation, and ordered to serve 43 days in the county jail with credit for 43 days served.

He was accused in a double fatal crash on Interstate 64 in Washington County that resulted in the deaths of 20-year-old Chelsea Dunn of Mt. Vernon and 19-year-old Wilyssa Moore of Mt. Vernon.

According to the Illinois State Police, Williams was driving eastbound on I-64 when his vehicle left the right side of the road for an unknown reason and struck a tree. 

He was airlifted to a regional hospital in serious condition after the crash. A fourth occupant of the vehicle, 30-year-old Jessica McSwain of Mt. Vernon, was transported to a local hospital by ambulance and is in good condition. 

McSwain was the only occupant of the vehicle wearing a seatbelt.
