JEFFERSON COUNTY — Two people were reportedly taken to the hospital early this morning following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 64 in Jefferson County.
According to the Illinois State Police, just before 1 a.m. a 2002 Chevy Cavalier was traveling eastbound in the right lane of I-64 near the 72.5 milepost when it was struck in the rear by a 2016 Volvo semi-truck.
That crash left the Cavalier disabled in the roadway and its occupants exited the vehicle. The Cavalier was then struck by a 2000 Peterbilt semi-truck and then a 2000 Jeep Cherokee.
The occupants of the two semi-trucks and the Jeep were not injured in the crash; however, the 21-year-old driver of the Cavalier, Feigh Jansen, of Bartelso, and her 18-year-old passenger, Erin Jordin, of Carlyle, were both transported to Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon for treatment of minor injuries.
