VANDALIA — A Vandalia High School student has been arrested in connection with a possible threat at the school earlier this week.
According to Vandalia Police Chief Jeff Ray, on Wednesday his department was notified of a possible threat at Vandalia High School.
Ray says the report indicated a student had made comments about having a plan to do a shooting in the school.
Officers interviewed multiple witnesses and spoke to the juvenile that allegedly made the statement.
Reports say the juvenile suspect claimed to be joking around when he made the statement. He was placed under arrest and an investigation into the case is ongoing.
According to the police chief, his department is unaware of any other threat or incidents other than this one that took place on Wednesday.
Ray emphasized that his department takes the statements of this type very seriously.
