MARION COUNTY — A 54-year-old Alma man is in the Marion County Jail after he allegedly battered a sheriff’s deputy over the weekend.

Richard Schoreck was arrested Friday afternoon after Marion County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report hat he was damaging his home and attempting to kick out the windows of his car.

Schoreck was arrested after he allegedly began yelling at and chest bumping the responding deputy.

As he was being walked to the squad car he reportedly fell to the ground of the porch and then struck the deputy multiple times as the deputy attempted to get him off the ground.

Shoreck was ultimately taken to the jail on charges of disorderly conduct and aggravated battery to a peace officer.

He remains in custody awaiting the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail.
