Alexander Beccue is charged with two counts Class M first-degree murder, Class 2 felony possession of a stolen vehicle, and Class 3 felony being a felon in possession of a firearm .

Authorities say Beccue shot Joshua Smith of Ramsey in the head on Aug. 11, 2017, in Fayette County. Smith later died at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Beccue faces life in prison if convicted. Part of the ongoing investigation relies on DNA evidence found at the scene.

On April 16 prosecutors filed an order to consume that DNA in testing. Prosecutors don’t expect results from that testing for 30 to 45 days. Beccue is next scheduled to appear in court June 12.
