WILLIAMSON COUNTY — Driver fatigue is being blamed for a crash just after 2 a.m. Monday morning on Interstate 57 in Williamson County that claimed the life of a 41-year-old Tennessee man.
According to Illinois State Police, Jermaine T. Jackson, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, was driving a 2004 red Chevy Monte Carlo southbound on I-57 near the 55 mile post when the vehicle left the roadway to the right. Jackson over corrected and lost control of the vehicle, which struck a guard rail.
Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Williamson County Coroner. A 14-year-old female passenger in the vehicle was transported to Heartland Regional Hospital in Marion with non-life threatening injuries. A 28-year-old passenger in the vehicle was uninjured.
