WILLIAMSON COUNTY — The Williamson County Coroner’s Office has released the names of two women who died in an early Friday morning fire at a house in the 700 block of North 18th Street in Herrin.

According to Junior Burke, the women were 77-year-old Mary Dee Litton and her 54-year-old daughter Mary Jane Litton, both of Herrin.

Both women were pronounced dead at Herrin Hospital due to injuries they received in the fire. The Herrin Fire Department responded to the fire around 12:45 a.m.

Autopsies were scheduled for Saturday.

The fire is currently under investigation by the Williamson County Coroner’s Office, Illinois State Fire Marshal, Herrin Police and Illinois State Police.

Burke says no further information is available at this time.
