Anthonette “Big Mama” Strowder was one of more than a dozen people arrested in connection to an eight-month investigation into drug trafficking in the area
Strowder was the only subject in the 2017 drug sweep that was ultimately charged in federal court.
Of the seven counts against her, she pleaded guilty to Counts 2 through 7, with charged her with distribution of meth from June 13 and 14, 2017, as well as the distribution of cocaine in November 2014.
After Strowder pleaded guilty to those six charges late last year in federal court in East St. Louis, she was ordered to turn herself over to the U. S. Marshal Service no later than December 7, 2018, to await her sentencing.
She’s been held at the federal prison in Mason, Tennessee since that time and Tuesday’s sentencing hearing was held at the prison, rather than at the federal courthouse in East St. Louis. In addition to her 20-year sentence, Strowder will have to serve 5-years mandatory supervised release after she completes her prison term.
The investigation, in this case, was conducted by the Richland County Sheriff’s Office, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and the Centralia Police Department.
