ANNA, Ill. — Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Internal Investigation (DII) Agents have arrested two former employees of Choate Mental Health and Development Center in Anna for Official Misconduct and other charges.

According to ISP, agents arrived at Choate Mental Health and Development Center on March 22, 2018, to investigate allegations of the abuse of mental health clients.

On January 6, 2020, a Union County grand jury issued indictments for 49-year-old Sheri L. Fish, of Sherman, Ill., 25-year-old Cody A. Barger, of Grantsburg, Ill., 29-year-old and Johnathan C. Lingle, of Goreville, Ill.

Fish was arrested Thursday on a warrant charging one count official misconduct. She was taken to the Sangamon County Jail with bail set at $25,000.

Barger was arrested Tuesday on a warrant charging him with two counts of official misconduct and two counts obstruction of justice. He was taken to the Union County Jail with bail set at $25,000.

A warrant has been issued for Lingle’s arrest and charging him with one count each official misconduct and obstruction of justice. However, authorities have been unable to apprehend him at this time.
