SPRINGFIELD, Ill — After a first year marked by some legislative successes, Gov. J.B. Pritzker will deliver his State of the State address at noon Wednesday to announce his priorities for his second legislative session.
The new legislative session begins on the heels of what many Democrats are touting as successful first year for Pritzker.
In 2019, the General Assembly passed a package of bills that include historic capitol improvement projects, the legalization of marijuana and sports betting, and casino legislation that will bring a casino to Rockford.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports Pritzker’s address will focus on “rooting out corruption” and rebuilding education.
On Tuesday, Republicans presented their 2020 legislative agenda. The main areas of the GOP’s focus are property tax relief, redistricting and ethics reform.
