The Marion County Health Department is reporting the 18th case of COVID-19 in the county.
The patient is reportedly a female Marion County resident in her 60s. She is reportedly doing well and is an inpatient at a hospital.
The Washington County Health Department is now reporting a total of five residents who have been infected with COVID-19, an increase of two since its Wednesday report.
The two new patients include a male in his 30s, who is being hospitalized and stable, and a female in her 70s, who is also doing well in isolation at home.
Neither is sure where they contracted the virus but it is believed they contracted it in the community.
Jefferson County on Friday reported its 12th case it’s had one death; Fayette County is reporting 12 cases with one death and Clinton County is reporting 39 cases.
Illinois Department of Public Health officials on Thursday reported 125 additional deaths from the COVID-19 — the largest single-day number.
The state also topped 1,000 coronavirus deaths Thursday, with 1,072 people succumbing to the illness.
There were 1,140 new cases of coronavirus reported, bringing the total number of positive cases to nearly 26,000.
Of the deaths reported Thursday, there were seven in Southern Illinois including the first in Bond County. St. Clair County reported four deaths and Madison and Monroe County one apiece.
The bulk of the deaths were n Cook County where 92 of the deaths occurred. There were an additional 22 deaths in the collar counties around Chicago.
Deaths ranged from a man in his 30s to one male who was more than 100 years old.
The virus is now being reported in 90 Illinois counties.
