WASHINGTON COUNTY — A 32-year-old Missouri man being held in the Scott County, Missouri Jail on unrelated charges is considered a person of interest in the February murder of an Ashley, Illinois man.

According to Washington County authorities, the Sikeston, Mo., man is being held without bond in the Scott County Jail. A multi-state, multi-agency investigation has connected the man with David G. Woodrome’s February 9, 2020 murder at his Ashley home.

This Missouri man, whose name has not been released yet, was arrested on charges of assault in the first degree and armed criminal action in Reynolds County, MO, on April 8.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Department continues to work with Missouri and other law enforcement agencies on the ongoing homicide investigation and the name of the Missouri man will be withheld unless it’s determined he’s a suspect in Woodrome’s death.

Woodrome was found dead at his home on February 9, after a friend went to check on him since he had not been seen for more than three days at a local business he frequented. The Washington County Coroner’s office pronounced him dead at the scene.
