CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago seems to be calming down after a violent weekend that saw dozens of shootings, vandals smashing scores of store windows, stealing merchandise, setting cars on fire and clashing with police.
Police Superintendent David Brown said Tuesday night as the “quietest” in the city since widespread unrest began Saturday night following large protests downtown related to the death of George Floyd.
The police department says that on Tuesday officers made 67 disorderly conduct arrests, compared to 200 the day before and 465 on Sunday. But Brown says the city is still experiencing too much violence and that on Tuesday there were 23 shootings.
