CHICAGO — Illinois’ attorney general issued a press release Tuesday revealing that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

Attorney General Kwame Raoul

Attorney General Kwame Raoul says after experiencing minor symptoms over the weekend, he contacted his health care provider using telehealth services. He was then tested Monday and received notice Tuesday that he was positive for the novel coronavirus.

Raoul says he has been self-isolating since the onset of his symptoms – which he says are mild — and will continue to do so. Additionally, he says they are the process of notifying individuals he may have come into contact with so that they can also self-isolate and seek telehealth guidance.

He advises he is in regular contact with his staff and will continue to manage the operations of his office from home.

Raoul notes that he’s fortunate to be otherwise healthy but he still encourages all Illinois residents to take precautions to protect themselves and vulnerable residents from contracting COVID-19.
