Marion County sees multiple children test positive for COVID-19

The Marion County Health Department reported on Monday seven residents who tested positive for Coronavirus Disease, bringing the total to 115 confirmed cases of the virus in the county.

Of the seven new cases, three are males in their teens, one is a female in her teens, a male under 10 years old, a male in his 30s and a female in her 70s. All seven are reportedly doing well and are at home on isolation.

Of the 115 confirmed positive cases in Marion County, 87 have been released from isolation and 28 remain under quarantine.

The Jefferson County Health Department on Monday reported 13 positive coronavirus tests that came in over the weekend.

According to health officials, four new positive cases were confirmed Saturday, another four on Sunday, and five on Monday.

Those new cases include three females in their 20s, one male in his 20s, two males in their 40s, one male in his 50s, two females in their 50s, one female in her 60s, one female in her 70s, and two males in their 70s.

Those 13 cases bring the Jefferson County total of positive infections to 184. Of those, 27 remain active, 133 have been released from isolation, and 17 have died.

Clinton County on Monday reported 12 new cases of coronavirus since Friday, bringing their new total of lab-confirmed cases to 306.

Washington County health officials on Monday reported nine new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing their total number of residents infected to 50. Of those, 15 cases remain active and 35 others have been released from isolation.

The nine new cases include two males in their teens, a female in her 20s, a female in her 40s, a female in her 50s, a female in her 70s, a male in his 40s, a male in his 50s and a male in his 80s who is the only one of the new cases to be hospitalized.

The Illinois Department of Public Health on Monday reported 1,231 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours along with 18 additional COVID-related deaths.

IDPH reports the preliminary seven-day statewide positivity rate has increased to 3.8% for the period of July 20 –July 26.
