MOUNT VERNON — Mt. Vernon police are investigating a reported shooting incident in the 2800 block of College Wednesday that sent two people to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

The call of the shooting came in around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, with a female gunshot victim transported to Crossroads Hospital Emergency Room before being transferred to another hospital for treatment.

Mt. Vernon police officers reportedly took a 44-year-old male into custody shortly after arriving on scene and while they were investigating the shooting, a call came in from SSM Good Samaritan Hospital that a male gunshot victim had been brought into their Emergency Room.

Officers remain on the scene and continue to investigate. No other details are available at this time.
