The Marion County Health Department on Monday reported eight new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed over the weekend, bringing their new total to 139, with 25 remaining in isolation and 114 who have been released.
Clinton County health officials reported 14 new cases of the virus over the weekend. The new Clinton County cases bring the total number of their residents to have tested positive for the virus to 349.
One employee of the Centralia Correctional Center tested positive for the virus over the weekend.
According to the Illinois Department of Corrections, the facility was immediately placed on a medical quarantine leading to increased restrictions on movement throughout the facility.
Visitation has been suspended at all Illinois prisons since March 14th. All Illinois prisons have been on administrative quarantine with restricted movement since March 20th.
Jefferson County on Monday reported eight new positive cases confirmed over the weekend, including one female child under the age of 10. The eight new cases bring the Jefferson County total number of confirmed cases to 206, with 37 cases currently in isolation, and 155 released from isolation and 17 who have died.
Washington County health officials on Monday reported two new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing their total number of residents to have contracted the virus to 58.
The two new cases are in women in their 40s – one contracted the virus in the workplace and the other from close contact with a lab-confirmed case.
Washington County currently has three active cases who are all hospitalized, while 55 others have been released from isolation.
Fayette County health officials on Monday reported four new cases were confirmed over the weekend, bringing their total number of positive cases to 58.
The Illinois Department of Public Health on Monday announced 1,298 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease in Illinois, including 10 additional confirmed deaths.
Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 183,241 cases, including 7,526 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois.
The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases testing positive from July 27 –August 2 is 4.0%.
As of Sunday night, 1,418 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 347 patients were in the ICU and 132 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
