SANGAMON COUNTY — A hearing in the case of Stat Rep. Darren Bailey versus Governor JB Pritzker is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon in Sangamon County Court, after the Illinois Supreme Court consolidated similar cases challenging the governor’s authority regarding COVID-related emergency orders.

Bailey has requested a change of judges in the case, while Pritzker has requested additional time to respond to Bailey’s complaint.

Bailey alleges the governor doesn’t have authority to continue issuing emergency orders concerning coronavirus disease.

The case was moved from Clay County to Sangamon County following the Supreme Court’s consolidation order.
